Your Towing & Payload Numbers for 2018-2020 Ram 3500 (

Good evening all. I am considering getting a used 2018-2020 Ram 3500 Laramie CC LB SRW Turbo Diesel (not HO). In combing through sites I could not find what real world payload limits were for this setup. I found tradesman and big horn on the website, but not really Laramie.

For those with this truck setup, I was wondering what your sticker said for towing and payload limit? Please also note any significant deviations/options you have (I believe the Level 1 Group came starting 2019).

    Thank you.

Why wouldn't you get the HO since your towing? You might want a bigger rig someday.

The HO is not off the table, just I have heard many times that you will run out of payload before towing capability.

I have a short bed '19 3500 CC Laramie 4x4 with the heavy sunroof, and the HO. I have a 3,750 lb payload.

Most of the long bed Laramie's I have seen are somewhere in the 4,100 lb area.

From everything I have read, the HO really doesn't shine until you are towing over about 16,000 lbs., which will put you at, or just under payload (not ability). The HO drinks more fuel, and I am not a fan of the Aisin, makes the Allison in my last truck feel like a Cadillac.

2020 Ram 3500 Laramie Cummins HO Aisin CC LB 4x4 SRW with 3.73. 4,014 payload on the sticker. With full tanks, DW, myself and a few odds/ends usable payload per CAT scale was 3,280. Max tow 25,323. Options add weight.

If you decide to purchase a 2019-2020 make sure the CP4 recall has been done. Recall on the 2019s has been problematic. The CP3.3 and PCM flash per recall made a huge difference for me including smoother Aisin shifts and excellent throttle response. Highway with no trailer pre-recall best I could get was 18.5mpg hand calc'd and about 450 mpg DEF. After recall 20.3 mpg combined city/highway (21.5 635 miles home all highway except for a half hour stuck on GW bridge) - hand calc'd - and 1.5 gal DEF in 1365 miles. This was same route in 2020, 2021, 2022.

Pulled 14,920 effortlessly for 4500 miles May-June. Average mpg was 9.73. Average mpg DEF was 350. Can't wait for next trip (same outbound to SD) to see if towing mpg goes up.

Mine is in my sig below. Take a lesson from me if you can find one, get the long bed. Factory Air Suspension was totally worth it, will always be ordering this from now on.
