Setting New Grease Seals-Question
Hi guys,
Been out repacking the wheel bearings and as I was setting the grease seals I managed to set one a little below "Flush" with the hub. I didn't want to try removing it and risk damaging it since I only bought 4.
Is this something I should be concerned about?
Thanks in advance for your comments.2020 Reflection 29RS 5th Wheel

Nope. If you set them with a wood block they'll set flush. If you use a seal driver they'll be recessed a bit.

+1 for a wood block, I have a small piece of 4x4 that I use, gets them flush everytime without damaging anything.

If they are recessed but square to the hub, no problem.

I used a 2" x 4" piece of wooden block also.....just make sure that there is no debris or small pieces of wood that fall into the area when setting the seal.

I have bought 10 packs of seals from lippert or dexter off Amazon for a very reasonable price a couple times. I keep one and a set of bearings in my camper toolbox in case we ever have issues.
