    Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point

Howdy again, Tami and I did Canyonlands Island In The Sky and Dead Horse Point yesterday. They are very close to each other, and from either park you can see the other park across the canyon and in fact you have to pass by the turn off to Dead Horse Point when driving on 313 to the entrance to Canyonlands.
Canyonlands is a National Park, Dead Horse Point is a Utah State Park, both are beautiful.

If it's hot carry a lot of water, Gatorade, ice tea or whatever your favorite beverage is. It was 90-95* when we visited there yesterday and the sun is intense. Water is only available at the visitors centers. They truck 6000 gal water tankers to the parks, or the signs say, conserve water. The West is running out of water. The Colorado and Green rivers looked very low. In some places the cool air coming up the canyon walls mitigates the heat.

Canyonlands has three sections Island In The Sky, The Maze and The Needles. The Island In The Sky is the most accessible by ordinary vehicle especially a dually. Canyonlands was not very busy at all, i guess most people were at Arches. Here are some pics of Canyonlands

Here are some pics of Dead Horse Point State Park. Do you see the ghost horse in the picture?
I have a lot of close ups but just wanted to see if you could see it.

Monday night we have reservations for dinner and a night cruse on the Colorado river at Moab

We LOVED Canyonlands! Did u happen to stay at DHP campground? They renovated it not that long ago, and we scouted it out when we were there last summer (‘21).

Tami and i took the "Canyonlands by Night" dinner and cruise on the Colorado River at Moab, we highly recommend it!
Starting at 7pm, prior to the cruise you get a great chuck wagon dinner, then at @ 8pm the boat takes you up the Colorado River that parallels highway 128 about an hour. Then after dark they put on a light show and narration with music on the history of the Moab area and the canyons as the boat floats back down the Colorado River. They light up portions of the canyon walls and cliffs with 40,000 power of lights. At times they turn off all the lights and if its a clear night the stars are spectacular! We arrived back at the docks @ 10pm. One of the best highlights of our trip here to Moab.
