Thanks to forum I made these decisions
In a previous post (my first post) I was looking for advise and received plenty, I placed a down payment on a Lance that my 1/2 ton pickup would tow, at the last minute the seller backed out and our search resumed.
After much consideration and input from people here I am trading up to a 2013 ford f250, which will tow the TT my wife wanted which is a 2020 Refection 297RSTS that we will pick up this week.
So a quick question, I need to add a 50 amp service line to my home, I have installed a 30 amp for our generator, so I know how to do it just need to know what I need to connect to the trailer. The first dealer I spoke with said the I would need 110 service but that was for 30 amp, is this also true for 50 amp.
Thank for all the good advise so far and look forward to learning much more.
PS this is our first TT

Sorry to hear that you weren't able to purchase the Lance, it's very unsatisfactory when a seller backs out at the last minute. On the other hand, hope you'll be happy with the Reflection. Quick question, what would you use a 50-amp connection for? When I'm home I plug into a normal household circuit, 15-amps. Sure I can't run everything at once on that, but it charges the batteries, keeps the everyday type of needs fulfilled, and even can run the A/C if needed.
That said, the 30 Amp service for the generator was probably for a transfer switch, it would be different for a service for the trailer. There are a few threads (https://www.google.com/search?q=mygr...client=gws-wiz) on the forum that may be of use.Stephen and Judy

We will use the RV at home for visiting children (we have 6) when we are not on the road, I figured the RV would need 50 amp service. How do you use 15 amp service, with an adaptor?

A 50 amp RV outlet is a 240 volt 14-50R receptacle. HD sells a few with outdoor boxes
One thing to mention, you should always turn off power to the outlet (breaker) before plugging or unplugging the RV into the outlet. If your breaker panel is not near the outlet you should install a disconnect near the outlet or install a RV outlet box with a built in breaker.

My preferred 50 amp RV box is this one. https://www.ebay.com/p/9033519091?iid=225071589736
I installed this at my remote country rv lot
I also installed a simple RV outdoor RV box on the side of my remote vacation cabin which has a 50 amp breaker box at the power meter.
I also installed a indoor 14-50R outlet in my shed connected to a sub panel a few feet from the outlet. The outlet is used either to connect my EV car charger or my RV if needed.
All of these have a breaker disconnect a few feet from the outlet.Jerry & Linda

JerryR is giving you good info. I'll guess he is like I am - not a fan of trying to use a 15 or 20 amp outlet from a house to use an RV with people actually using it and pulling lots of amps. You are on the right track putting in 50a service for the RV.
If you ran a 30 amp connection from your home to a generator (or the other way around), then you know something about going into a breaker box.
You put in a double pole 50 amp breaker in your house's breaker box and then wire it to this receptacle (or the one JerryR likes) for your RV. You'll pull Line 1 and Line 2 from the 50 amp breaker you installed in the houses's breaker box and also the ground and neutral feeds from the breaker box too.Last edited by traveldawg; 08-07-2022 at 09:17 PM.

I am certainly not an electrician, but it is considered “Split Phase”. This means you have 2 hot legs of 50 amp 120 volt power.

If the RV would be just a bedroom, then the 50 amp is great but overkill if they won't be using the microwave or fridge or hot water. In this case, I would just run a dedicated 20 amp which will be enough for one A/C. If they will be using all of the accoutrements, then the 50 amp makes sense.
