I'm with the Captain. 50A is overkill unless you plan on making full use of ALL the trailer's amenities.

OK, so I'm assuming what you mean is "If I hook up to my home service using a 15 Amps circuit via a power cord using a 15/50 Amp cord adapter, will there be enough power to run the converter/charger in the coach and charge the battery?" The answer to that (in my experience) is yes, you'll be able to charge your battery with that setup (that's what I'm using right now).

Yes that is correct, is there anything I need to do other than plug it in?

No just plug it in. You can run all 12 volts lights, the TV, the refrigerator etc, but don't run high current devices like the the Air conditioner, the microwave, water heater.

If the trailer is drawing power when you unplug from the pedestal, and the power at the pedestal is turned on, it can spark across the terminals of the plug/pedestal. If this happens frequently, the terminals can be damaged, and cause a poor connection leading to more issues with poor power transmission.

To add to what Hoopy Frood stated, in addition to arcing causing pitting damage to the outlet or plug it's much safer to plug into to dead outlet than a live outlet. You could inadvertently touch the plug blades and get a 240 volt shock. 240 volt shock is real nasty! I've worked with with equipment connected to 50 amp 14-50R outlets for decades. A 240 volt AC shock can easily kill you or hurt you very badly. It's not like a 120 volt shock. I've been cardioverted in a hospital due to a cardiac condition. The cardiologist told me that cardiovert uses DC to shock your heart back into rhythm where a similar AC voltage shock would kill you.

Here's a link for a good read on the subject of RV plug/outlet usage from an electrical expert. https://www.rvtravel.com/rv-electric...cuit-breakers/

Like others have said plugging in to a live receptacle will cause an arc due to circuits in your RV that will instantly draw current like your refrigerator, charging system , etc. Always plug into the campground pedestal only when the breaker is off. If it's an older setup without a breaker at the pedestal then go turn off the RVs main breaker before plugging into the pedestal. Here's what happens from constantly plugging into a live receptacle with a 30A RV cord.
