Any Imagine owners use an adjustable coupler?

I want to lower the coupler on the trailer instead of raising the hitch ball. Has anyone done this? The existing ball coupler would need to be cut off and replaced with an adjustable one something like this.

I have not had any experience with those. Didn’t even know they existed.

Oh. Ow. Mmmm….. not sure that is the best solution. Not sure the frame people would like that either. It’ll be interesting to see if anyone else has done this.

How much adjustment do you need?

I've seen similar on the hitch side but not the coupler side. I have no opinion. I feel like saying no way but on the other hand, if you can do it on the hitch side, why not the coupler side. As long as it can take the weight and stress I guess. I also guess that you don't use a wdh.

I should have given more background. So I’m trying to get the trailer coupler close to the same height as the TV without using a drop hitch. See I’m towing with 2018 Audi Q7 that can’t take a WDH and is supposed to tow with a no rise or drop ball. I’m using a 4” drop upside down for about a 2-3” rise but the TT still rides nose down about 2”.
When I did my first wheel by wheel weigh at Escapees using a straight hitch all weights were within limits but the front axle carried 700 pounds more than the rear axle. The nose of the TT was down 3-4” lower than rear.
I called a welder I respect and he said he’d never done that on a travel trailer he had put one on a trailer the city owned.

I'm concerned about this one, it doesn't seem safe...

I've never seen a coupler like that except on a construction (flatbed) trailer. Sounds to me that you need different tow vehicle. Does your Audi have a frame or is it a uni-body construction? Time for the experts to chime in.

@59 Apache, the suv is unibody and I think that’s why the WDH isn’t allowed.
This idea is to align the coupler and hitch with the adjustment being at the TT rather than the TV.
I’m hoping to eliminate slight porpoising by raising the front to level and also put more weight on the rear axle.

    Audi W7 pulling a 5000lb dry trailer
Max tow capacity with 6 cylander is 7000 lbs
Max Payload which is more important is 1500-1600

Trailer already adorned wit nice solar, Victron setup weighing another 250
Trailer dry is 5000 lbs. Normal additions bring it up to 6500 lbs . 13% is 845 lbs. Add 2 humans and a dog that’s at least 300 lbs without anything in the SUV you are at 1145. Hitch would take you to 1200. Only 300 lbs takes you over the limit

So you at your vehicles payload and towing limits at best.
Audi Q7 is a nice SUV. It doesn’t have the frame, rear axel ratio, alternator, cooling system to tow this weight with wearing it out let alone control the trailer. Rear Axel ratio 3.02.

SUV has a car ride and soft suspension. Not conducive for controlling a 26 ft 6500 lb trailer and occupants. I think this will be a dangerous combo.
