    Surge Protector/ Electric Management System

Was curious what every ones take is on whether one should use a surge protector/ EMS electrical management system. Is it better to be safe than sorry or is there some negative thoughts on using these protectors, thanks?

We use a Hughes power watchdog that is hardwired under the sink.

Power Watchdog EMS, hardwired from day one.

The only negative is if the power is bad at the pedestal it won't let me connect. But, that's kinda the point.

We also have the Power Watchdog EMS hardwired. It failed a couple days ago unexpectedly, and Hughes has been prompt to send a replacement unit

We opted for a portable Surge Guard for the first year of ownership. Paid dividends on our first trip as we had a close lightning strike which took out our power and a pedestal with 50A open ground at a second camp ground.

In the 5 years we have been using our Progressive Industries EMS, we have encountered open grounds twice, low voltage twice, reverse polarity once. I don't hookup without it.

Progressive industries EMS hardwire has saved me several time. If power is below 105 volts it wont power up trailer but you can flip the bypass switch and get power. just remember to turn off your AC and sensitive electronics (The unit does alot more then just under voltage)

We’ve used an EMS with our 50A trailers and it’s shut down under very low voltage conditions three times and prevented connection to one missing ground. I’d say that’s ample evidence an EMS is a good safety investment.
