Mach 15 AC, manual vs. thermostat control

The AC went out on my travel trailer. Checked it out and it had A long life (6-yo).

I got on top and read the model number then purchased a duplicate.48204c 869.

Bought a new unit online and took it to a nearby ROV “service center”.

These guys called today and said it was the wrong unit in that it was for manual control and not a thermostat control like mine

This model number doesn’t seem to show a difference between thermostat vs, knob control.

Am I missing something. I thought it would be a direct, drop in replacement.

Am I missing something? Do you think these guys don’t know what they’re doin?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Looked up that model on Amazon (see https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DG1T0YG). If you look at some of the questions answered by the seller, it seems pretty clear that it should be "a direct replacement. Nothing else is needed and you will use your existing hardware for install".

I'd be a bit nervous about your local RV service center. Perhaps you could handle the install yourself, it doesn't sound that challenging.

BTW, it looks like this is your first post, welcome to the forum.

Thanks, happy to hear from experts.

I’d do it myself except for getting the new unit up or the old unit down!

I don’t have anything to reach up 14’

Thanks, I'm no expert, just a fellow owner like yourself. And yes, I totally get that it would be challenging to get the new unit up and the old one down. At about 80 pounds those units aren't what one would call light.

Never done it myself, but maybe a chain hoist and a close-by tree limb would help get them on/off the roof? Something like this:
