Boat Anchor as a Stinky Slinky Hold-Down at Dump Station

For me one of the trickiest elements of getting ready to hit the road is how to hold the drain pipe in place at the dump station.
Some sites we've visited have rocks that you have to precariously balance ... others have some kind of a metal cover that end up holding one edge of your pipe. Every time I end up pulling the tank valve then making a dash to the business end of the pipe to hold it place with my foot.

Then I came up with this ... it's a simple boat anchor, the type that has two "wings." The sides straddle the slinky perfectly and allow me to securely hold the tube in position. The photo shows the result AFTER I dumped all three tanks. Nice, clean, and dry - ready for the next camper!

Your fluids come out of that end at such a rate that a weight is required? I've literally never once had an issue with my elbow popping out of the stank-pipe opening. I don't use any weights.

I think it depends on how stretch your hose is. I also secure mine. Better to be safe then moping a stinky mess.

Some of those sewer hookups are pretty high, and it's not hard for the end to pop out. I've only had it happen once, but it can happens.

In a word: yes. Very common for my setup, actually.

But does that work with a tall pipe? We have not been lucky with the parks we have gone to. One the pipe was sticking out about a foot. The other is was sticking out at a 45 degree angle. Both sucked trying to keep a seal.

Edit. These were not dump station hook ups.

I have a couple of 4x4s that I can stack on either side, or use our Camco leveling blocks under it as well.

I have a few of those sand weight bags that hold down awnings/canopies. Maybe I'll start bringing one of those along with about 8 lbs of sand in it.
