The sweet spot for my combination is 65 - 67 MPH for ease of towing and fuel economy. When on secondary roads (US and state highways), we never exceed the speed limit - which is usually 55 - 65 MPH. On the stretches of Interstate, in Wyoming for example, where the speed limit is 80, I stick to my 65 - 67 MPH in the slow lane. Of course, steep grades and 45 MPH headwinds change things - as do 45 MPH tailwinds.

What kind of mpg are you getting with similar truck and trailer? I didn't write it down but I thought I was getting better mileage than that last summer. Yes, I know it will improve if I do 60 mph. Just wondering.
We just finished up a 2000 mile trip. We averaged about 12-13 on the flat and around 10.5 through hills and mountains. Overall average a touch over 11 including several regens.

Average speed was around 60-65. Most of the time close to 60.

2021 F350 DRW 6.7, mine varies from state to state, elevation (we travel from MT to TX each fall) and "lead footishness"

I've had a bad as 8.5 into a head wind on level ground to 10.9 with a tail wind.
Average is 10 mpg all in all.

I might add, I didn't rotate the Michelins at the recommended 10k mark. I put 26k on the truck wither pulling a 5th wheel or truck camper with boat. Tire wear was uneven and now I have to put new tires on it.
Bottom line, rotate those tires! I should have done it much sooner.

Inclines, any wind (except for a direct tail wind) and the percent of biodiesel in your fuel affects your mileage.

Isn't that the truth! My 2015 is lousy with bioblends. Just lousy!

So, all things taken into consideration, my mpg is not so different from most. Maybe I I'm just paying attention to it a little more as diesel around here is $5.29 per gallon, and not so long ago it was $2.89! I've also heard that diesel fuel is in high demand, so maybe they're blending at a higher rate of biodiesel.

You're not just whistling Dixie! This spring we made a 3,650 mile trip (starting in southern NM, then AZ, UT, CO, WY, SD, IA, IL, IN, OH, WV and MD). Fuel cost for the truck was $2,171.40. Diesel prices have come down since then, though, and we won't be using the truck to tow the RV for the rest of the year.

I average around 10.5 mpg with my setup. I do notice less mpg when I am driving in the central part of the U.S. Seems like they use a higher concentrate of biodiesel then the coastal areas.

Anyone use any additives that they think helps with mileage? I use Optilube when I'm towing. I tried Hotshot also. I didn't notice much if any difference in mileage. I get about 8mph and try to stay 65mph or under.
