There are a ton of cars you can get for $21k. For me it comes down to features and feasibility. I'm not going to have a car that I need to stop in Barstow for God knows how long to wait for a recharge so I can make it to Havasu. Additionally, the questionable reliability of our power in CA pushes me away further.

    I understand your reluctance.

From Fountain Vally to Havasu with a Tesla you wouldn’t need to stop but if you wanted to stretch your legs after driving the 2 hours you could top off at any of the 16 super chargers at Ayers Hotel.

With my inexpensive Nissan Leaf I would need to top off in Barstow after traveling from Fountain Valley to Barstow. Would take me about 30 minutes to top off at either the Walmart, “the outlets” or any of the other charging stations like Loves Travel Stop in Barstow.

That's the thing, if I'm traveling without the trailer, I'm point A to Point B, with no stops in between, and generally, my kids are as well. It's only when I travel with my wife that potty breaks are necessary.

I didn't say the potty break was 30 minutes, only that's they only time I stop. You're right, 30 minutes for a potty break is too long.

The benefit of being young. I could never do that trip non stop. As we men get older you will find that your bladder has a reduced capacity. Now at 75 years old i have a 2 hour bladder. It’s nice having an RV with a bathroom hitched to the back of the truck.

It's already stressful enough towing and getting fuel with the abundance of truck stops and gas stations now. I don't want to deal with the problems of charging until they have bugs worked out in about 10 years. I'm not going to be a guinea pig. Lol!
