Rusty Marks on Counter & Stove

After my short pull on Saturday to check weights and slope, I noticed water dripping from the front of the vent hood under the microwave. There was what looked like rusty splash all the way past the sink and on the stove. Like condensation. Found a baffle/flap for lack of a better word on the outside of the vent exhaust. I could close it to a latched position, which I did. The only thing I can imagine is that during my short drive during a slight rain, water was somehow forced into that vent opening. Am I to assume that when we want to use the vent hood fan, I need to go out and open that vent but then close it for travel? Saw nothing in the owners manual.

Yes but not many people do it.

We close it for traveling but have forgotten it open at times. I'm actually surprised that water made its way in. Have you verified the condition of the sealant around it? Just to be sure that water is not coming in from there.

Not sure what to look for but the small wide flap was wide open and there was a light windy rain as I traveled to the scales.

There was heavy droplets/condensate on the light lens over the stove. It looked as if some wind blew droplets over to the corner to left of stove/right of sink. Also behind sink at wall and all the way over to the fold up counter extension. Had the distinct appearance of rusty water blown from the vent hood area. And then dried. The rust colored "powder" easily wiped off the countertop. Only wet at the light lens.
