Not sure if this is the correct forum for this. As I sit here watching all the Labor Day people leave. I witness a family use the main water spigot to rinse the sewer hose and sewer ninety onto the ground. After witnessing this I am so glad I filter my water and then purify my drinking water. I will now be Clorox wiping my spigots from now on. Hopefully these pics make sense.

At a dump station, I witnessed a guy disconnect his dump hose then run a water hose up his dump outlet supposedly to do an inside spray out .. with the "results" flowing freely onto the ground below the outlet. At least he was using his own water hose and not the one provided at the station.

I don’t think bashing is the purpose of this forum but…..
These things don’t bother me. I can guarantee not one person has ever been harmed by these people doing this

So someone washing out their sewer hose at the site where you'll be in an hour doesn't bother you? To me this is the equivalent of not picking up after your dog.

These things don’t bother me. I can guarantee not one person has ever been harmed by these people doing this

Bashing? He is merely making an observation of something that many of us would find disgusting and extremely poor manners....and possibly in violation of state and maybe Federal laws. Personally, I would consider it to be a "heads up" for what you need to be aware of when hooking up your city water at a campsite. Bashing = to attack physically or verbally, which neither applies in his comments.

Actually, in my opinion, it is probably worse, since not picking up after a dog/cat usually only involves stepping in, not possibly ingesting it. via a hose.

I believe it would be prudent to have a short/polite conversation with those folks and show them the proper way so they don’t simply carry those habits to the next campsite. They’ll either thank you or tell you to go take a hike. Either way at least you did your part.

I posted this last summer in a thread about wearing gloves while dumping:

A couple of years ago we spent two nights in a park in Bakersfield, CA, to rest en route. There was an older, large gas class A next to us getting ready to pull out the morning after we arrived. We watched as the guy (I can't come up with a better term that would be acceptable here) handled the stinky slinky and connections with bare hands, ran his fresh water hose down the inside of the stinky slinky to rinse it out... the full length... and then threw all the fresh water equipment and stinky slinky together in the same side storage compartment together. He then climbed into the motorhome, got in the driver's seat, picked up a sandwich off the dashboard, started eating it, and drove off - of course without washing his hands. As the country comedian says, "Here's your sign!"
