Sorry it didn’t work, definitely sounds like a power problem. As @xrated spelled out, more time to check if it is a battery issue or relay, or circuit breaker. Digital multimeter is your friend,

    Good Luck!

I really do wish I had a multi-meter. Since I have no where to go I will see what I might get in the closet town (I am in South Georgia).

At the very least, your info is something I can give to the tech to check on.

Pawn shops have budget friendly multimeters. Home Depot carry them. Just run the generator nonstop for a good while. Your battery may be low. Keep all nonessential 12V systems off. Fans, lights and so on.

Yeah, the hydraulics take a good battery to work right.

Being plugged in or just on generator isn't enough.

Can you plug your running truck into the 7 way cord for awhile to help get more voltage into the battery?

I know this doesn’t help you today, butI have an extra meter if you would like a future indicator of battery volts.

About the only tool I do not have is a multi-meter and I am in the middle of nowhere so getting one is a several hour trip. I do need to get one however.
So did you try moving the wire over to the other terminal at the 80A auto reset breaker that I told you about in my previous post...and then trying it? If your battery is good (I know, you don't have a meter to check it right now), that step will certainly eliminate the auto reset breaker as a problem or not.

ID:	42971Well, I was able to find an Auto Zone in the little down down the street and I've got myself a very simple multi meter. I did the test as you indicated and without the generator running I have 12.4 volts on either side. See the attached pic for what I did the reading on.

Great job. That is the circuit breaker. Go a bit downstream and you will also find an auto reversing solenoid. While engaging the slides see if you get voltage on the output side of that. Just keep going downstream to the pump to see if it is electrified.

As you go through each point you will either find the culprit or eliminate an additional item.

    Good luck!

Good work finding the multi-meter. So sorry this has been such a trial (and generated your first post). But at least you're learning a lot and you have a new tool that will be of use in many situations.

Hi Bill: Great advice. I have traced through the auto reversing solenoid. Each connector comes on depending on the direction of the slide action and I get 12.x volts. So I traced to the pump and again depending on the direction of the slide I get 12.x volts on one of the poles. So the problem appears to be the pump is not responding to current from the solenoid as this is the end of the power line. Make sense?
