My trailer and combination is over both weights. You can also pull a 5th wheel combo up to 11000 kg even if the trailer is over the 4600 kg. Very confusing until you do a bit of research. I bet there are lots of people driving illegally with a G license in Ontario.

Ya, I guess the kicker is that 4600 kg trailer wt.

Wow, I really thought there was an exception when it came to personal use like RVing. I'll go back to challenge my so-called knowledgeable buddy who worked for there until Covid hit.

Honestly I think the test should consist of bringing your truck and trailer an inspection station:

    1. 3500/350 or better = pass
    2. 2500/250 within limits = pass
    3. 1500/150 = fail

    lol

I cringe when I see F150’s towing huge fifth wheels…

I do agree with you on this one. I just passed the test this morning by using a 1/2 ton and a flatbed car trailer. I think if they go through all this trouble you should pass the test in a representative configuration but then the driving schools wouldn't make any money for you to use their vehicle. Or they would need to spend more money to have representative test combos.
