New to forum and Grand Design
Greetings all. I'm not new to 5th wheeling but new to Grand Design. Looking forward to being part of this forum.
I just purchased a 2022, slightly used, Reflection 303RLS. Loving it so far. I have two questions for now. Likely more later.
First, I see it has a camera mounted on the rear top. The previous owner purchased it new back in Nov. 2022 and said it isn't functional so it must be hardwired only. What and where do I need to buy to make it functional? And second. My rig has only 1 battery. The battery shelf looks kinda flimsy if I wanted to add another battery. Those of you who have installed a second battery what did you do to firm up the shelf, is there a factory insert or something?

Newbe
Greetings. I just joined the forum. I'm from California and I purchased my first Grand Design Reflection last week. Got the 303RLS model. Not new to 5th wheeling however. I'm looking forward to reading about this wonderful RV and reading the posts.

Welcome!
First off, you probably have the Lippert Insight camera. It should be functional, you need to activate it in the app for the Compass Connect.
Secondly, are you a "boondocker"? If not, you don't need 2 batteries. 2nd batteries do get added all the time, the compartment supports them. If they are lead/acid, they need to be vented.Steve- Inventory Manager at Tom Schaeffer's RV, Shoemakersville, PA www.tomschaeffers.com

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you here. Do you know which camera you have? If it is the Lippert, my experience is that it is pretty much useless. It supposedly works over wifi but the range is so limited that I can't use it in the cab of my TV which is the whole point. As far as the battery is concerned, a single battery will only support your power needs in the most limited of situations. It would be a good idea to take inventory of your power needs and then deploy something that is appropriate to those needs. For instance, we sometimes camp off-grid for several days so we have 800 Ah of LiFePo4 batteries which support that. But if you only camp with hook-ups, you'll need far less.

What is Compass Connect? How is it connected? I have a monitor on my previous 5th wheel with a camera mounded on the license plate. A cheap aftermarket type. And there is a factory mount for the first battery. If I added a second I was looking for advice on what people are using for a mount.

Yea, we always camp with hookups. Rarely without. I just thought two are better than one and my previous trailers have always had two batteries. I have noticed when towing with the battery off it doesn't charge the battery so I need to make sure it's on to get the truck to charge it.
