Ladder Screws Stripped

The screws in the top right bracket are stripped.
Does anyone have a trick to fix this?

The ladder screws should be going into some sort of metal backing plate. As far as I know, the only fix is to replace the screws with a larger diameter screw.

Yes, the one on the driver's side at the rear of the RV.

Fill with JB Weld, drill small pilot hole, run the screw in?

While I do love JB Weld, I don't think that would give a solid enough hold on a ladder. I think I would try a little longer screw, but one wonders how the first one was discovered?

There is a product called plusnut and another rivet nut. https://www.zoro.com/kbmt/plusnut/?g...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

They are a threaded inserts that expand (done with a tool) and then you install a screw or bolt of the proper size. I have used the plusnuts with good results when my awning backing plate bowed and striped the attachment bolts. I think I posted about it here.

From the ground, I could see that the screw was backed out a 1/8th inch or so. When I tried to tighten it, it was stripped... as were the other three screws in that bracket.

Before you say that, I over-tightened them... I know my way around tools. (truck mechanic, Xerox Service Rep, etc.)

No, I was just wondering how it showed up, whether it came out or just loosened up. I think you might have to figure out what it is supposed to be secured to and go from there. Perhaps the piece it is supposed to screw into is missing?
