    Brakes on 2022 2970RL

We have had trailer since March 2022. It never felt like the trailer brakes were working. We pull it with a 2014 F250. We had the truck checked for wiring issues...none found. But Trailer brakes not working, so we hooked our truck to friends trailer, and his trailer brakes came on. Thought it might be factory installed electric brake system. So we installed an an another, and had work done by Licensed Techs. Seem to be a little braking but not much. And we did a test pulling the brake away at a slow speed, and the trailer brakes did not engage So we took it to our local RV Shop
and they found glazing on brake shoes, and adjusted brakes. They put our truck on one of their new trailers, and the brakes worked, but when they put their truck on our trailer, our trailer brakes failed. Still it seemed like we were not getting any improvement in brakes on the trailer. We returned it to dealership, ( it was still under warranty) they ground the front set of brakes again , and reinstalled the ground cable. The Tech showed us pictures the ground cable was attached to painted frame, a poor contact. The Tech put on two grounds one for the truck braking system. and the other for the break away. He then drove our truck and trailer for a test drive, and we now have brakes. So check your grounds, make sure the point of contact is clean. We drove at least 5 times to a campsite , you would have though the brakes would have seated by then. The Tech also said the box housing the wiring under the front of the trailer has a connecters for wiring that are jell filled connectors which can also give issues and, that we might want to consider replacing them. He removed one of them as that is all that warranty would cover. Our 2019 model previous to this was perfect with no issues.

First off, welcome to the forum, it looks like this is your first post. And thanks so much for sharing your experience with the brakes, someone else may be saved the heartburn you had to go through by reading your post. Hope you have many happy and safe camping experiences in the new coach.
