Generator stalls after approx. three minutes of ac run time.

2019 GD Imagine 19RLE. 13500 BTU Dometic AC. Micro-Air EasyStart installed. Learn procedure conducted on 20 amp service. Champion 2500 dual fuel running on gasoline. AC starts up and blows cold air. After approx three minutes the generator goes into a stall and the ac compressor cuts out with fan continuing to run. Generator comes back up to speed and approx three minutes later compressor comes back on. On a three minute pattern the gen goes into the stall, compressor cuts out and then three minutes later the compressor comes back and so on. Run capacitor (55/15 +- 5%) checked out within specs. Any suggestions? Thanks for any and all input? Bill P.

Welcome to the forum. Where are you located in regards to elevation? If you're a good amount above sea level, that might contribute to your issue. The higher up you go, the less efficient the generator operates, and will have reduced capacity output.

If that's not issue, have you ensured all other AC (120v) loads are off while starting the air conditioner?

Perhaps, turn off all breakers except for the main and air conditioner to see what happens. Make sure you leave 12v connected, as the thermostat operates off 12v.

Other thoughts, have you ran the generator at close to full load with something else besides the camper to ensure the generator works as designed?

2500 wwatts doesn't leave a lot of margin. Generators lose power with altitude,(3.5% per 1,000 ft.) and heat. We already know it is hot, that is the reason you are using AC, We do not know about the altitude, Make sure your converter is turned off. They can use a lot of power. The microwave would definantly put you over.

First off, welcome aboard, it looks like this is your first post. I also have the MicroAir unit and it behaved similarly at first. I suspect that I didn't complete the learning procedure properly. After a while it has settled into a better pattern. As others have said, be sure you don't have any other major draws on your generator, converter/charger should be off at the breaker.

Your generator is rated a 15.4A. Your air conditioner draws around 13A. If there is anything else in the trailer on, including the converter, you’ll likely overload the generator. That includes even a propane refrigerator.

Thanks for your response. Generator does not seem to be the problem. Micro-Air suggests rerunning the learn process while plugged into 30 amp rather than 20. I plan to complete more tests on our next trip. Will post an update.

Thanks for your response. I'm in Vegas with an altitude of 1,700 ft. Yes temps get hot and hot here means >105. Next test will include turning off the converter as suggested. I will update the post.
