Even if the numbers DO work out somehow, the towing dynamic will probably be poo poo on something that large and heavy. Going from a 2500 short bed (with airbags) to a 3500 long bed made a significant difference in towing on my rig. My pin is only 2700 lbs. My 3500 weighs an additional 800 lbs over my 2500 too.

    To run some numbers....
4100 lb pin + ~3500 on the drive axle= 7600lbs on the rear. Most SRW trucks have a 6-6.5K lb axle rating.

Assuming you have 18" wheels, the max load for a 265/70-18 is only 3500ish lbs. That means your 2 tires will also be overloaded as well.

Those are two items I wouldn't want to be over on.

As of yet I'm not set up to tow anything.
no hitch no trailer power cord...not even a trailer.
I'm looking for advice. I pulled a gooseneck trailer hauling hay decades ago. No 5th wheel experience whatsoever. I've heard I could have clearance problems towing a 5th wheel with my short bed truck. There are ways around this with offset balls slider hitches etc.
I'm leaning toward a gen y offset ball gooseneck set up with a reese air ride gooseneck/ 5th wheel pin box adapter changeout.
    Opinions and/or ideas?
I have a '19 Chevy 3500 SRW with the short bed, I got the Reese Goosebox and have zero issues with clearance, I can get almost 90° when turning, also the ride quality with the Goosebox is awesome, zero chucking, super smooth. Also when you're at your destination you don't have to remove a big heavy hitch to use your bed, simply turn the ball upside down and you're good to go! Can't recommend it enough, you'll love it

The Reese Goosebox is only rated for 4,000lbs of pin weight capacity, which will be easily exceeded by the heavy Grand Design Toy haulers.
