    380FL Construction

Does anyone have any pictures, drawings, or other information on the construction of the Solitude 380FL. Ours is a 2021. I'm trying to get a better feel for the location of interior studs, whether metal or wood, the structure of the basement, etc. I'd like to know more before I start installing towel racks, etc. I would also like to run a heat duct and electrical wire from the front furnace space to the rear storage area? I know there is a heat vent in the rear storage area already but I am partitioning that and I need another vent. I can see into the basement in the front furnace/water heater space and I can see into the basement behind the panel at the front of the first rear storage area but I don't know if there is a clear path between the two (under the kitchen/dining area). I would also like to get a better feel of the construction for potential future projects I haven't thought of yet. Any info from people who have information from Grand Design or from their own exploring or experience would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

The entire superstructure of the Solitudes is aluminum with solid foam insulation laminated between the fiberglass outside walls and the Luan inside walls. Detailed structural drawings are not available to the public. Some folks have looked for condensation on the interior wall surfaces on chilly mornings to locate the aluminum frame members.

As for ducting to the rear, you will probably have to drop the Coroplast underbelly to run that. You can see general construction and insulation information here:

As Rob said, and as crazy as it sounds, one of the best ways to see the locations of the aluminum studs in the side walls is to go out on a cool morning when the dew is on the trailer. The studs will be visible. Here's some pictures I saved in that exact situation of our Momentum 31G for future reference.

Am I correct in assuming that the interior wall studs are wood?

No - the aluminum frame goes all the way through. There are no separate interior studs. Everything is part of the unitized pressure laminated wall with the aluminum framing sandwiched in between.

Not sure what you are partitioning off, but last year when it was sub 30F outside, I hung a remote temp sensor from the shower drain pipe. With the propane furnace on, it was 60F back there so the heat outlet works great. I would just extend or T off the existing outlet if you need to instead of running a new one. Other than the shower drain, don't recall if there are any other exposed pipes in the rear. I'm thinking not.

I think he means the interior walls, i.e. the walls between the bedroom/bathroom. Maybe you did also? I wasn’t sure if you were both talking about the same thing.

I’m not sure if those are aluminum or not.

Hadn't thought of that - you're probably right. The answer to that question might require a call to GD Customer Service.

Thanks for all the info. I WAS referring to that interior wall between the bedroom and small 2nd bath. Good advice Rob. I'll make a call to GD and see what I can pry out of them.
