    Hurricane Ian

I know we have several members around the large predicted path of Ian. Hope you all are safe or headed to safety. It's been 100 yrs since that area got hit, maybe the old Indian folklore my sister in law talks about will keep you all safe.

We've been watching with great interest, we have many friends and family stretched from Sarasota to Tampa and our spot in FL is in Bradenton on an offshoot creek of the Mandate River.

    Stay safe and dry.

We hit the road at mid day today and are near the Florida Georgia line for the night, we are going over near Opilaka Al and plan to stay there until Sunday or when the power comes back on at our park in Zephyrhills.

    Marcy,

We installed hurricane impact windows ar our S&B house in Bradenton (Mill Creek) about 4 years ago. Today I spent the day moving the patio furniture, gas grill etc into the house. We have 24 feet of sliding glass doors in the living Room overlooking the pool area. It will be weird watching the hurricane through these huge doors.

I just returned from our cabin about 125 miles inland fromBradenton house. Our RV in now in that property. 2-1/2 hour drive there, 3 hours putting up shutters and bringing things inside and another 2-1/2 hours back to Bradenton. I’m pooped.

Initially we were going to evacuate Bradenton and go to the cabin in Ft Drum. But after seeing it looks like it will pass to our south we are staying in Bradenton.

We lived through Hurricane Andrew and have big respect for cat 3+ storms.

My heart goes out to our southern neighbors in the Ft Myers Charlotte county area.

Jerry, better pooped and not need the prep. You're well prepared, experience helps with these storms. The hurricanes always seem to turn in down that way.
While we don't wish hurricanes on anyone part of me is glad it's not landing further north

Found this clip yesterday, it's really amazing to look at the force from above..

Prepped the house here just north of Tampa the best we could. We've had three storm eyes go directly over the house in the past 40 yrs but this storm is a monster. I'm assuming we will loose power when the winds pick up. (read AC, well pump and all cooking appliances)
I filled the fresh water tank, all the water lines, the water heater and pre-cooled the fridge in our camper.
My truck has a built in generator that can run everything in the camper for about 40-48 hrs on one tank of gas with everything on. If the camper survives the wind without tipping over, I've got my own FEMA trailer
