It's all just marketing numbers. Someone has 900ftlbs, another has 1000, someone else has 1100. My 600ftlb 2007 could keep up with all of them.
Does anybody here actually think they are applying 1000ftlbs of torque to the ground? Maybe borrowed John Forces rear tires? lol

Actually, you are apply well north of 1,000 ft lbs to the ground.

    Take my truck
6th gear (out of 10) is direct.. Assume torque converter is locked up, so no TC torque multiplication.
    4.30 gears
90-95% is the accepted window for hypoid gear efficiency in normal ratios.
Assume 5% loss for bearings in transmission and driveshaft

Truck does not torque limit in higher gears.
    1050ft-lb*.95*.95*4.30 = 4074 ft-lb at the rear axle.

What do I know.. I just went to what used to be GMs engineering school and worked for multiple tier 1 suppliers, and my bachelors is in Mechanical Engineering with an Automotive Engineering specialty.

Now factor in a 4.65 :1 first gear ratio, a conservative 2:1 torque multiplication in the converter (2.5 is normal-ish) and even with I believe it's limited by the ECM to ~800 ft-lb factor in a 90% efficiency in the tranny for gears and even a 40% loss in the TQ, and it's pretty impressive. Like over 14,700 at the wheels.

Factoring in the radius of the tires, 15.95" (assuming stock 19.5s on the 450) that's about 11,000 max theoreticall pull in the lowest gear which will likely spin the tires while empty of a light load, but that's close to "It will kick the traction control in but barely" with a heavy 5er.

    800*2*.6*4.65*.9*.9*.95*4.30

Looks pretty nice in the reviews I've seen. I wish Ford would go to air suspension (ala Kelderman) as an option on the bigger trucks, but, I do like a lot of the changes. Cool that SD now has "ProPower", but for RV uses, the larger system (7.2KW, IIRC) would be really nice, allowing you to plug in the RV while towing to keep the AC/fridge/etc running without using the generator.

I've not yet seen measurements, but I hope this new model has a bit less height. My 2019 450 is stupid high; causes issues when towing and is a PITA to get in/work in the bed. No reason for a truck that's not designed to go serious offroading to have that much height.

I'm sure the bigger electric system is on the way, so I'm going to wait to upgrade until that's available; I'm hoping it comes in around 10KW, which would be enough to use the truck as a generator for my house in the event of an outage as well, of course, as powering the RV. I doubt the air ride suspension is going to be anytime soon, but I continue to hope!

Trucks were gone from the speedway mid-year, but went by in late August and the parking lots were full again. I go by there this Friday so will see if they are still there.

They are. Just saw an article with a drone photo of it. Same thing is happening in KC with F-150s now.

I'm seriously looking at GMC and Ram because of it.

Just for reference, in the 80’s when I worked on Cummins, Cat truck engines, 350-400 HP and 1150-1200 fl/lbs was typical. Pickups are now producing more than that to pull 1/3 the weight of a typical highway truck. And we still want more.

Now that said a 3406B or a 1693TA made that but at a much lower redline and boost.

When more power and less weight means I maintain my speed on grades, it was worth asking for.
