Messy eaters/drinkers
Our girl always was leaving puddles behind at the water dish. While out picking up water early on in the trip i stumbled upon this dish at a small local store in Custer SD. Since then we have had no more puddles. It retains all the drippings, money well spent, I'm spending lots less time mopping up after the dogs .

Murphys problem is when he is done lapping up his fill and comes away from the water bowl leaving a trail dripping from his jowls! I normally only put down the water bowl inside at night. The rest of the time its right outside the door.

Molly isn't messy, but the description of Murphy sounds just like our daughter's lab mix. At home we have reverted to moving the water bowl to the tiled back porch or the bathroom when she visits. The description of Murphy made me chuckle, but if he is doing this correctly he should also shake his head to sling the water even farther.

No, he doesnt shake his head, instead he looks for a victim to wipe his face off on their pants leg, or bare leg if you are wearing shorts. At home there is a huge mat with his name on it that sits under his food and water bowl stand to keep the drip factor to a minimum. At the campsite there is also a large old 20 qt canning pot that sits under the spigot that I fill for him. Now that one is hilarious as he dunks his entire head into it to the point where the water line is right at his ears. That's the Lab showing in him. Sometimes we play fetch with items underwater and he dives down to retrieve them.

Too funny! We saw a Golden Retriever at Dog Mountain in Vermont that was trying to get stones from the bottom of the pond.

Guess that's the difference between a Labrador and a Golden. Murphy doesn't try to get the stones, he gets them! LOL I don't tease him and throw them too deep though. He surprises me when I throw a stone in with thousands of others that are already there and he comes back with the right one. Still trying to figure that one out. He gets it wrong sometimes but not often and when he does you can tell he stayed down looking for as long as he could then at the last second just grabs one and comes back. Water dogs are funny. They will plunge into a freezing lake in the dead of winter without batting and eye but let a light rain come along and watch what happens..........
