    Exclamation Lippert Auto Leveling

So i just purchased my GD Reflection 367, and it is parked in my grass with a little bit of an uneven surface. I have a 2x8 under the 2 front feet, and a 4 inch thing log slice under the RL jack, and a 4 in log slice plus 3 more inches of wood under the RR due to RR out of stroke. I hit autolevel, and the right side tires are coming off the ground. The front feet are on the 13th hole. Any suggestions for leveling this? Or any information you need let me know.

Not sure if I totally get your situation, but it may be that you're starting with the front feet too far down. The auto-leveler needs some room in the front to work with or you may get wheels off the ground. A picture would help.

so are you suggesting going from 13th to 10th pin hole on the front jacks?

Did you start your Auto-Level session with the nose pointed toward the ground? Lippert recommends to start Auto-Leveling with the front of the coach lower than the rear, lower by about a foot to 18 inches should be sufficient. Try starting the Auto-Level with the nose pointed down.

If the above doesn't work, let us know more about your site...

When you say "A little bit of uneven surface" what are we talking about?

If you did not have Auto-Level, how many inches would you need to raise the low side of the coach? Also, if the coach were level side-to-side how many inches would the low end of the camper need to be raised to be level with the front end?

Unless there is quite a bit of un-eveness, your tires should remain on the ground. Lippert does not recommend leveling to the point that the tires are off the ground (though I am sure many of us have spent the night being not fully grounded).

I think your ground is not as level as you think. Plus the ground will give as weight is applied. Hitch back up, and lift all jacks. Place a level on the inside floor of the trailer to determine how out of level (left to right) you are. Recommend obtaining a rough level condition by placing 2x8 planks under the right side tires. Then try auto leveling. Raising the wheels off the ground places a lot of unnecessary stress on the leveling jacks. I travel with a set of 2x8 for that exact reason.

We were in Fayetteville AR once at a CG that had crowned sites front to rear/left to right. Had to move the trailer and truck several times until we found the "sweet" spot, being the less of all evils as far as levelness was concerned. Even then, we could only barely keep the rear tires on the ground due to the bad pitch of the site.

Like it has already been stated, you need some form of leveling pads and/or lumber to keep your tires on the ground. Otherwise, if you run into high winds while camping your trailer may rock abit and scare the dickens out of you while doing it. Been there, done that.

Tip: Look around at the other rigs when you get there. It will help you judge your situation prior to ever unhitching and could save time and grief.

I will try that, but I have a feeling if I put the pins on the front jacks lower than 2, the rears will be out of stroke.

Pretty sure they don't recommend that...That would pretty much guarantee failure of the auto level system.

Get it close to level manually...then press auto level. The auto level system is good at getting you level as a fine tuning system..not from way out of level.

I've had the Lippert auto-leveling on two different units. As already mentioned here, the site may not be as level as you believe it to be. If that is the case, the auto-leveling may reach "out of stroke".

Secondly, I have found that if the camp site slopes toward the rear, i.e. the ground is higher at the hitch and lower at the rear bumper, the Lippert A-L will not work properly when the nose of the rig has to go lower. I have had this situation numerous times and slowly realized that this was the common denominator in many of my leveling issues.

Lastly, and this probably is not your issue, there are at least two leveling sensors somewhere beneath your rig. Twice, I have had a sensor become loose and was hanging by the wires behind the coroplast. The system goes crazy then trying to find "level".

I just purchased a 303RLS and on our maiden camping trip two weeks ago, the site sloped to the rear. After pushing the A-L button and the system going through the motions, the rear jacks were completely extended and I felt like I had a treehouse. I brought the unit down and leveled it manually using a 4ft level and lowering the nose first. Then I set that as my "zero point". When I brought the unit home to clean it out, the system did a better job leveling (than it did previously when I first brought the rig home).

    Hope that is helpful.
