Anyone changed shocks on the F450
Good Morning & Happy Friday--
Wanted to reach out and ask if anyone has swapped out their shocks on their F450? Mine are not shot, but have some serious miles on them and am wondering what I would do if/when its time to swap them? Do I go with OEM replacements, or do I swap to a Bilstein, new Rancho, Fox etc. I am not particular to a specific brand at the moment. I know when I swapped out the factor shocks on my 2020 GMC 3/4 ton and put Bilstein on it, the towing ride quality was ALOT better, and more stable.
Looking for advice from the 450 pullers please. Thanks in advance.

I replaced the Ranchos with Bilsteins - 4100 series, I think. The Ranchos were still good but the truck is only used for pulling the Solitude. There was some improvement and they are holding up well.

I think you mean 4600 or 5100? The 4600 are yellow and the 5100 are silver.
I always go with 5100 series. Both series are available for stock height trucks, 5100 is available for lifted or leveled trucks, but 5100 has a better coating for corrosion whereas the 4600 are only painted.2023 Momentum 398M-R

I changed to Bilstein 5100s only because I could not find 4600s in stock. My 450 (35k miles at the time) bounced a lot over large dips and bumps while towing and now it does not. The unloaded ride is much better and a tad firmer; the rear axle stays planted to the road. I prefer the 4600s because I believe they are a bit softer but they are definitely firmer than stock. I would not use factory replacement shocks. I have not used other brands shocks.

I've had good luck with ShockWarehouse too. Sometimes get a promo code and helps a bit. But Bilstein shocks are pretty much the same price no matter where you shop.
