Grand design fridge cabinet getting hot on propane
We have a 5th wheel 2021 grand design 340rds. We noticed when our fridge is on propane, the cabinet wall next to the fridge gets really hot. Anyone else experience this and if so any recommended solution? Thanks!

Is it the upper cabinet? The hottest part of the plumbing is in the upper section. My upper cabinet also got warm. We didn’t store bread or other food that wouldn’t like the heat.

My cabinet gets quite warm as well using either propane or electric. Quite warm but not what I would call hot. Just the way it is, I think.

I didn’t check the upper cabinet but will keep an eye on that. It is the wall of the fridge next to the counter.

Yes. In my rig, the fridge is next to the stovetop. The wall there gets pretty warm. Next outing I’m going to check and make sure all the fans are working behind there.

My fridge is mounted in a slide, and that means there cannot be a roof chimney above the refrigerator. There is an air intake down low and an exhaust up high on the side of the wall--and a fan blows the hot air out the top exhaust louver.
My Atwood refrigerator had to be replaced, and I had the chance to inspect GD's poorly designed baffle that pushes the air out the top exhaust. The entire cabinetry was very warm inside. So I took measurements and redesigned my baffle where all hot air goes right out the exhaust. My freezer keeps ice cream perfectly hard now.

Bamaman. Any chance we could get a pic or two of your design?

Sorry, but my 323BHS is 300 mi. away in the mountains. What I did is make a diagonal baffle out of plywood that went from the top of my fridge to the exhaust vent at the top of the slide. I sealed it with duck tape.
Grand Design had a baffle, but didn't do a very good job with the design.

It might be worth checking the temp with a gun. I have one that I check the hub temps with on both my truck and trailer. I picked it up on Amazon, specifically for the hubs, but I have used it for many things including finding the hotter spots on my Blackstone griddle. You might be surprised how much you use it and it wasn’t very expensive. Getting the actual wall temp should let you know if this is an actual concern or not.
