    DISH Satellite Help

Question ... I thought I read somewhere here, but cannot find it now, that someone said you can somehow connect your over-the-air antenna to the cable box and the over-the-air channels would show up in the channel line up. I don't like calling to change my location as much as I thought I would as I loose my local FOX SPORTS network. The only benefit I can see for changing your location is so that you can get whatever the local feed is for the 4 major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX). I'd rather just use my antenna to get those than call and have my location changed by DISH. I realize that I will be in some locations where I can get satellite but no over-the-air reception and I can live with that.

Anyway, maybe I'm just imagining I read this but if someone knows what the heck I'm talking about, I would appreciate it.

I think, don't quote me Poppy, that the OTA antenna is on the same feed as cable. That's why you have to turn off the booster when you hook up cable.

I do understand that Curtis and I suspect I didn't make my question clear.

I thought there was either an interface I had to add or something else I had to do so that when I connect the coax from the OTA to the DISH box it reads the available OTA channels and puts them into my DISH channel guide. I suspect I need to run a coax from the outlet in the entertainment center to the DISH box rather than directly to the TV, as it is normally.

Sorry, I still may be unclear.

Oh, so sorry! I'm not that familiar with Dish, so for that reason, I'm out.

Okay, I love the internet. I wasn't dreaming and I found what I need. This thing sounds sweet.

    Product Description
Over-the-air digital adaptor for the DISH ViP® 211z satellite receiver. The DISH Over-the-Air (OTA) Module allows you to add a digital over-the-air tuner to your ViP® 211z satellite receiver. This module/tuner provides the ability to integrate over-the-air channels into the on-screen Program Guide for seamless viewing.

Your antenna channels will show up in the DISH guide just like it was a satellite channel, so you can see what is playing up to 14 days ahead. You can also RECORD your antenna channels just like all of your other satellite channels.

So, does anyone have one of these and can tell me how well it works? Also, if you're not setting up your satellite can you still go through your DISH receiver to watch OTA programming?

We have one and it works quite well with our VIP 211z and Pathway x2.
