We just went down I81 to NC and back and there were no shortages on the route. However, I would be cautious in New England if traveling through. Our fuel oil supplier is already rationing delivery of heating oil due to lack of supply. Administration openly stated fuel shortages expected in New England this winter. And if the administration passes a windfall profits tax on the oil companies, all bets on supply are off.

Fuel shortages do happen. Spent the winter of 1973 on a long lines for $2.00 of gas every other day.

There seems to be diesel available in Florida. Just higher prices.

On the road back from Hilton Head to SE WI. Currently in Chattanooga. No problems so far. Prices actually about 20 cents cheaper than our trip south in late September.

Good article makes sense... God help up us, why do things that dont go our way or we don't agree with become a political thing?

    Use truckmaster fuel finder

    http://www.findfuelstops.com/

Unfortunately, I have not used it in a while so it’s accuracy may be suspect. I also utilize gas buddy but that is for local stops that are close by and don’t really indicate they have fuel or not.

Use that site every trip. We know our millage range for getting fuel so before we ever leave I use Truck Master and Google maps. We know where we will stop and approximate time. Timing is usually good and we can get a bite to eat at the same time.

Most of the articles I read and interviews I watched never said diesel shortages have started they say based on current supply levels and the rate of consumption the shortages could start soon.

I see it as a supply problem vs shortage. Sort of like a reservoir that supplies water to a city. It may be lower than in the past but it doesn't mean it will run dry. It just means that it's low and if it was never refilled it would be dry in X amount of days. As long as there is a supply feeding it then there won't be a shortage.

Or supply vs demand. Currently the supply is not keeping up with demand which could cause shortages.
