    Nautilus winterizing

There are a couple of steps in the winterizing instructions that require turning the handles to a 45 degree position. I realize this position is for removing any trapped water (or getting anti freeze) in the plumbing harness. But why 45 degrees? What does this position do that turning the handles 90 degrees doesn't?

Most , if not all of the valves are 3 way valves, not just on and off, this ensures air or antifreeze goes through all ports.

What FT4now said.... you can always move the valve to each 90 degree position slowly too to clear all the ports out.

OK, that's what I thought. I still wonder why they recommend the valves at 45 degrees vs. rotating a full 90 degrees after the first procedure. I know the routine in the manual works because this is my 4th time to winterize and I've not had a failure. Just wonderin'.

Think of it as insurance. With the vales at 45°, there is ZERO possibility that the anti-freeze cannot flow through every port and downstream to whatever that port supplies anti-freeze to.

You do this with air as well for the same reason. Clear out all the water.
