    Is this normal??

Purchased brand new 2023 and the dealership and GD are telling me this is normal. My previous rig never had a single bubble in the roof. This brand new rig has bubbles all over the roof. Is this normal, because I’m being told by GD customer service and the dealer that bubbles are normal. Click image for larger version.

I was told by GD techs that this is normal and they no longer "stretch" these roofs super tight at the factory. The concern becomes with pin holes and true air bubbles.

I was told this is caused by temperature differences between roof installation and ambient air temp, which is plausible, I suppose.

I agree it doesn't appear normal, but I have been told the same thing AND even have it in writing.

The center picture would concern me more then the rest. It appears to be a gap in the roof structure that the vinyl is sagging into.

Optical illusion. It’s a lift, not a sag.

I have my rig at the dealer as we speak for some warranty work. I have a few bubbles like you and asked them to take a look. We shall see if they tell me the same thing

OK well, I thought that the membrane was attached to the roof sheathing with adhesive. Videos I've seen dealing with the installation of both the Alpha System membrane and a Dicor membrane show that the membrane is installed on top of the sheathing which is first covered with adhesive and then laid over the top. While it was made clear that stretching too tight could damage the membrane, it was laid as flat as possible and then the surface was squeegeed out to remove wrinkles and air bubbles before being attached along the edges.

Looks like that was not the case in these pics or the adhesive was defective. An occasional bubble here or there could be "industry standard" but the pics IMHO reflect sloppy workmanship, defective adhesive or both. I'm guessing the former. It may work fine and you can't see it from the ground but it still speaks volume about the application.

I'd certainly be concerned if it was mine. At a minimum I'd want something in writing like Texas Yankee has.
The roof on my 2021 has no wrinkles or bubbles of any kind.

I do have it in writing with pictures from GM of dealership.
I also had him initial the pictures. Like I said I’ve had a GD product before and it never looked like this. I agree that there is something wrong.

Glad you got it in writing. That is definitely the roof material lifting from the roof panel.

I would take it one step further and send to GD sooner rather than later.

    Good Luck with it.

Kind of makes me wonder how you detect a future developing roof problem. Like you have to go up on the roof with your original pictures and see what might have changed?
Redapple has a good idea. Email GD with pictures. Documented response from GD may be helpful in future..hopefully not needed.
