Let's talk fire Safety!
Ok, so I'm not new to RVing, but also I've never had to evacuate my camper in an emergency situation. I know where my fire escape windows are at and so does my family.
But here is the problem. I never tried to open/check these fire escape windows as I fear they could/would fall out to the ground and break. Does anybody know if this is true? I would like to test them out if they didn't to see how it works.
Also, what do you use to get down from the bedroom over the pin box? This is my first 5w and I'm not sure what I would need for this?
Fire extinguisher...who has more then the one that comes with the unit? Do you have one in your room?

I have a 337. Checked all my escape windows during PDI. They were hinged at the top so they did not fall out. Rear window slides to the side. I did find that they were difficult to open due to the rubber seals sticking. I had to really give them a heafty shove. I would open them all to check them because children may have a difficult time in breaking the seals free in an emergency.

We use our escape windows for ventilation so they get opened regularly.
I'm thinking if the rig is on fire and the only way out is through that high window above the pin box, it's gunna be a hard landing but better than being stuck.
I have 5 Fire ext. 1 by each exterior door, 1 in basement, 1 in front cab of truck and 1 in bed of truck. I need one in the bedroom but haven't got around to it. Thanks for the reminder.Jim (& Sharon)

One way to buy yourself a few extra seconds to get out of the bedroom is to keep the bedroom door closed when you're sleeping (if others aren't sleeping in other parts of the coach). It will block the heat and smoke long enough to make your exit if a fire breaks out while your sleeping. Don't try to fight it with a fire extinguisher unless it's the only option you have. Get out!

I know the agenda for the Rally is set, but this might make a good topic on how to use a fire escape window. And as a retired firefighter, what TucsonJim posted is right on target, good advice Jim.

Thanks for the useful info so far everyone. I just never saw anything on here about safety issues. So I figured this could help others who didn't know.
