Yep, going from 34 gallons to 60 gallons adds 182 pounds when the tank is full. That doesn't cut too deep into my 3,566# payload so I'm good with that. Now that's for the S&B tank I am planning to install. A 100 gallon auxiliary tank would add 700#; still within my payload but I don't want to take up bed space.

I just got a recall notice for my 2021 Ram. What is most infuriating is that no solution is now available. And there is no timeline for when one will be available and no statement about whether I should be driving the vehicle.

In the meantime I am planning on taking our truck across the country towing our GD trailer.... Yeah is that (NOT!) a good idea!
Not to down play the issues with the HPFP and your frustration. One reason I traded my 2019 Ram 3500 for the 2022 Ram 3500 was this risk. At least you have a recall notice to replace it unlike the Ford owners who just continue to get hosed by Ford who continues to use the crappy pump. My guess is that Ram will put the new HPFP or a modified version of the one that they use in the HD trucks which is a modified CP3 for the higher pressures.

I'll have to admit that the fuel pump issue was the reason I went with a 2018 instead of newer truck. Well, that and price. But honestly it was the potential fuel pump problem.

F350 Dually diesel....Payload.....5270 lbs. With the triple axle Momentum's pin weight, a toolbox in the bed and a 60gal RDS aux. tank full....it gets within about 350 lbs of being at the GVWR for the truck.....so yep, got enough payload to handle the tank. I just hope my wife doesn't balloon out as we are getting older though. Right now, no worries on that, she a whopping 115 lbs dripping wet.

I had a 2011 with the CP4. When my mechanical breakdown policy was up, it was new truck time. #1 priority was no more CP4.
Ram was using it then, as was Ford. GM was the only one not, so the decision was easy.

    Dude,

We aren't talking about entire RVs here. The topic is diesel engines, are they worth the hassle.
So we are talking about diesel engines in RV chassis and/or the pickup trucks that tow our GD trailers.
And I am talking about an industry wide problem, all manufacturers, all brands, all size engines.

Anyway, a 4% fail rate in a major engine component one that will kill a $15,000 engine, is far, far, far from acceptable to any ordinary automotive manufacturer. (We are NOT talking about the rest of the RV here).

Add in the fact that the defect has been known for over 10 years.
Add that manufacturers fight to avoid paying legit warranty claims.
Add in that repair parts, including engines, have been unavailable for months, leaving owners high and dry for 1 to 12 months waiting for repairs and recall completions.
Add in that manufacturers are refusing to pay for alternative transportation for affected owners.

And that's why so many are P'd off.

Just take a few minutes to do an internet search for fuel pump related diesel engine failures, recalls, lawsuits. The results are ugly. Ugly enough to give anyone second thoughts about buying another diesel. Even me, and I like my diesel truck aLOT.

And how do you know the defect rate is 4%? Source please. I could not find one in an admittedly quick search.
Doug, Patti and our puppy Leo are from upstate NY.

Replaced 32gal OEM tank with 55gal Titan - added 200 lbs with extra thickness and size of tank and fuel. Like you, didn't cut in too much to my 4014# payload. Cat scaled before and after to verify. Interesting, GAWR of steer axle was impacted most.
