    Propane alarm

I was awakened by the propane alarm going off about 2:30 this morning. There was no smell of gas in the trailer in fact I haven't had the gas turned on for days. This is not the first time it has happened. I turned on the exhaust fan over the stove and let it run the rest of the night with no further issues. This is not the first time this has happened. Is there a device out there that can detect propane rather than rely on my questionable sense of smell or to check if the sensor is faulty? The sensor goes back to green light as soon as I hit the reset button.

Could it be a faulty sensor?

Either a faulty sensor, or there is dust in it. You can try using canned air to GENTLY blow the sensor out; if it's too hard, it will damage the sensor.

Propane alarms can be set off by gasses that are not propane. Is the alarm close to the trash? Could also be a bad unit. Replace it if you continue having problems.

They are only good for so many years also. There should be a date on it somewhere.

It's5 or 6 years. Ours had gone off driving us crazy one time. That will be by the date on the alarm not the year of the trailer.

I've had 5 dogs in my coach for hundreds of nights without them triggering an alarm. I know some of them will alarm when they age out. They become ineffective when they get old

They are good for five years. the date apparently is on the backside. If it is flashing Red Red/Green Green, that indicates End of Life.
