Water Pump Runs... and Runs... and Runs.

Occasionally (once or twice a day) after running the water, the water pump will run continuously, instead of stopping after a few seconds as it does normally. This morning it ran for several minutes before I turned off the pump.

    * It seems to happen only after a toilet flush, but I'm not positive about that.
    * It will stop if I turn off the pump, run the water till the pressure drops, then turn the water pump back on. Then it runs the normal
    2-3 seconds and then stops.
    * Fresh water tank over half full, no obvious leaks or open faucets.

Thanks for any ideas you might have.

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

It sounds like you are pulling air into the pump and then it is trying to pump air against the water pressure in the system.
A loose filter perhaps ? Or the infamous Kantleak valve ?

    Hi Rob!

I agree, sounds like air getting in somewhere. Seems to only happen in the wee hours... it's been in the mid 50s here the last few nights, maybe theres just enough contraction of the threads somewhere to allow air to get in.

We're headed to a CoE camp host gig for 3 months, starting Thursday. Have full hookups there, so won't have to worry about it till November.

    Thanks!

    Dave
