Smoke alarm & Carbon Monoxide detector question for winter
Given that batteries don't do well in cold . . . what's the recommended strategy for Smoke Alarm / CO2 detectors for winter? Can these 10-year batteries withstand the cold? or should I bring them indoors? (Owners manual gives only vague advice)
We have one Smoke alarm in main living area featuring lithium 10-yr battery and NOT hard-wired. There's a combination Smoke alarm / Carbon Monoxide in sleeping area - unsure whether it is hard-wired. (I feared being too aggressive to remove it from ceiling).
I had planned to activate main Battery Disconnect lever and bring primary marine battery inside for winter on "trickle" charge.

Cold weather is very good for batteries. Low temperature slows the processes that lead to age related failure, while high temperatures accelerate them.
