It’s about time for new ones again.
New bilsteins? IIRC they have a lifetime warranty?

Bilsteins are like any product: they do wear out. I believe their warranty, like most others, cover defects in workmanship, not simple "wear-and-tear".

I put Bilstein 4600's on my F-250 about 30,000 miles ago. My original shocks were toast so not sure if the big improvement in ride was due to Bilstein, or just simply putting on new shocks, but it was noticeable. I did have one of my rear shocks start leaking after a couple years of towing my 303 RLS. I checked on the warranty and it was not an easy process to get a replacement the best I remember. I just bought another shock and replaced the defective one.

I put Bilstein 4600's on my F350 this fall. Ride is greatly improved with no load and with fiver hooked up. No negatives. And I don't miss having my teeth rattled every time I drive over one of the big horizontal cracks on the roads around here.

I'm reviving this thread hoping someone here can help me out. I'm about to pull the plug on ordering Bilsteins but am torn between the 4600s and 5100s. The way I understand the difference, other than a lifted truck (5100s), mine is stock, is that the 5100s are more for off road. The 4600s are more highway and offer a somewhat softer ride due to the slight difference in valving.
Although I do a lot of highway to get to my spots, I do run into long stretches of gravel road that can have a lot of washboard at times.
Can anyone on here, who has experience with both, point me in the right direction?

I've seen this a lot, 5100s are available in a stock height truck. Goto thr Bilstein website and you can pick truck and height. 5100s are corrosion resistant and the 4600s are only painted. I've put 5100s on 2 stock height trucks.

4600 are what you are going to want to go with. The 5100 will give you a stiffer ride then the 4600.

It's really a matter of choice when it comes down to it. My F350 has that stiff ride anyway, and rides much better with the trailer on 5100 as compared too the stock shocks. I've been an off roader for most of my driving life and an used to the stiffer ride.

EDIT: my F350 is stock as well.

5100’s on my stock height 21 450. Even though bilstein website says only 4600’s fit because they haven’t updated it. Like many 450 parts that manufacturers say won’t fit a 450 but will fit a 350. Most 450 owners have a bank of parts lists of “will fit” or “won’t fit” to reference.

I put 4600's on my f350, whoa better than stock. Saved a couple of bucks over the 5100's & I figure by the time the paint corrodes on them, they will probably need replacing anyway.
I too have wheeled since I was 16 & use to stiff rides, my dually is no different & probably couldn't tell the diff between the two shocks.
