I have to wonder how much longer the "premium" battery brands will hold their price points. I would think there are a lot of folks out there like me for whom a $800+ battery is not in budget and/or not willing to pay more than 2x the cost of competing brands even if there may arguably be a difference in quality.

Just as many people would like a Mercedes for a chevy price, there will always be some that want a battle born Battery for a SOK etc. price.
A lot more chevys are on the road than Mercedes. But Mercedes hasn't went away.
Buy what ever you can afford and be happy with it.

I hope they are yes. Seems I forgot to mention the brand name "Renogy". Should be arriving this week. Had them shipped to my wintering spot in Yuma.

I'm planning to go the same route. ImportYeti.com is pretty handy for finding the cell supplier to the US "assemblers", so you can get the same quality.

Selling a commodity product on quality is a tough row to hoe. If they can keep pulling it off, more power to them. I can see a 30 percent premium. A 2.5x premium? I don't see the value added. Maybe I am missing something.

I think it is consistency. There are some you tubers that test and do teardowns of batteries. In addtion to just being cheaper built over all, it seems that there is a lack of consistency in the builds. I have seen it in the tear downs. sometimes the changes are for the better, and sometimes not.. IOW just because one may choose a cheaper battery based on a review, doesn't mean that the one that is purchased because of said review will be the same. It really is like the wild, wild west in the cheaper battery market. Maybe someday it will shake out. Until then, I chose to put my money on a known item.
