Heads up - sagging chassis on 310GKs

We've been considering buying a Solitude 310GK, and recently got close enough on a 2022 that we had an inspector prepare a report on it. He found some issues, mostly minor. I'm sharing one of his significant points because it appears to be an issue that is broader than just one unit.

The inspector noted that there was a bulge in the underbelly near the front of the RV, near the holding tank. There was also condensation on the bulge. We asked the dealer to look into it, and when they did they noticed that there was a similar bulge on another 2022 310GK on their lot. They removed the undercarriages of each unit, and discovered that the brackets holding the tank had not been installed properly or well (I believe they said that the brackets were too far apart). As a result, the tank was sagging.

My inspector said that he has heard of situations where the entire tank falls through the bottom of the unit. He said that the more likely problem that would arise, however, is that the insulation underneath the unit would be compromised, and in cold weather the tank could freeze.

The dealer has contacted Grand Design about this issue, and they are waiting to hear back. In the meantime, the dealer checked the other Solitudes on their lot, and said that they believe the bulge issue was only on the 2022 310GKs. I'm passing this on FYI in case it's helpful.

There may be things sagging - but it's not the chassis (frame) as implied in your title.

I've seen some SOB's that have angle iron running from frame rail to frame rail under the tanks. Much better than straps IMO.

A testimony to RV manufacturing quality.... or LACK thereof.

No RV should be sold without an inspection.
