Peoria Sportscomplex / Spring Training experience ?

Been trying to call these guys - but not getting through thus far, so figured I'll try here just on the off chance someone has done this:

I am going to be passing through the Phoenix areas on my way up to southern utah in March - and it just so happens it's on one of the days the Padres have a day game. I'm thinking of dropping in just for the day, watch the game, and be on my way. I see on the Peoria sports complex website that they do have RV parking at $10 - so not too bad, but I'm wondering if anyone here has actually done that and what the experience was like? I'm not sure if by RV they mean some smaller class-b/c, or whether they can handle a travel trailer combined length of like 51ft). Let me know if you know - if not when I eventually get through I'll update here so others can find out. This is the spring training facility shared by the Mariners and Padres BTW.

    TIA,

    Bob

I haven't been there, but one of the things that I've seen people do is to use google maps and go to the location and zoom way in to get an overhead view of the place. It may be able to show you a bit about it, and help you try and judge how well you may fit.

Thanks, i did try that but it was not obvious where the parking was. Probably the image was taken at the wrong time of year.
Then i looked at google earth and there were a number of big vehicles (including 18 wheelers) parked somewhat randomly in the parking lot. Not sure what to make of that...

    Thanks for the suggestion,

    Bob

We were there last spring but we left the trailer at a State Park. Plus, I was not thinking to look for parked large vehicles.

What we did encounter was a plethora of coned-off lanes managing traffic up to a block away. And then coned routes on the parking lots with staff waving flags, etc., at us.

They seemed to have plenty of room. I just wonder if they are organized enough to route RVs to the remote regions of a lot BEFORE they get too close to the frenzy of little cars.

Thanks, I was thinking we would show up pretty early so hopefully things are not quite as chaotic. Also being a day game I suspect it might not be as bad, but not sure. I have an email into them so hopefully they will answer that at some point.

    Appreciate the response!

When you visited, where they charging for parking, and if so where were they collecting the money ? I don't see any kind of entry booths so I'm guessing it would be just done by hand on the street somewhere...

    Thanks!

We went to several parks over 4 days. All of them had a graduated parking fee based on distance from the gates. All of them used people standing in the lot to collect the fee and point us in a direction.

Well I did get an email back from the sports complex. keep in mind this may be specific to Peoria sports Complex:

During spring training they have special RV parking areas set aside. I believe based off of what you have described that you should be fine. The parking attendants will be there to direct you on the area you will be parking. RV Parking can be accessed by Mariners Way.

So I will give it a try and report back here when I'm done with any details that might be useful for other folks contemplating the same.
