    Chirping RV Gas Detector

“Recreational Vehicle Gas Detector” is chirping. Apparently it is hard wired in/no batteries. Brand name is “Safe-T-Alert”. The only thing that looks like a model number is “20-441-P”.

Any idea where to buy one of these things?
    Any “got-cha’s” during installation?
This one is located low on kitchen island.

Would there be anymore in a hard to notice location?
If so, I need to replace it too before it goes a-chirping, at mid-night, while camping, at a remote location, 75 miles from the nearest RV store

    Thanks

What color is the light on the front? The chirping may be indicating a problem. Be sure to resolve it before just changing out the detector. There is a "test" button on the front. Difficult to see on ours - it's basically a black button on a black background.

My husband just ordered the one jsm180 linked. Ours isn't chirping, but it's over 5 years old.

Yes, 5-7 years is the lifespan of one of these. Get a new one and the problem will go away.

Got the new Gas Detector in and now need to install. The big “Q”… how do you kill the electricity ? Disconnect the battery? None of the breakers or fuses kill the power to the old chirping unit. Thanks…

Disconnect the battery and turn the breaker for the converter off. If you have solar, it will need to be disabled as well

Our propane detector isn't live when unplugged from shore power and battery switch is off.

But my husband says he's not concerned about replacing ours with it live - it's only 12v

1000-1 you are mistaken. The propane detector is one of the few things in your trailer that IS live when the disconnect switch is off.
