    2023 GD Solitude S Class

Hello, Wife and I picked up the 2930RL-R two weeks ago. It is the 7th rv and 3rd fifth wheel in our 30+ year history of rving. We pull it with a 2012 F350 King Ranch Crew Cab that we bought new to pull a DRV product. The truck has been perfect, the DRV not so much. In between the DRV and the Grand Design we had an Arctic Fox model. It was very well made and trouble free but small (wife didn't like it) and the dealer was 200 miles away. They also didn't stock the size we wanted to step up to and factory orders took 3 to 4 months to deliver. Hopefully the GD will prove to be a solid performer. It appears the dealer network is strong. We're looking forward to learning and sharing on the forum.

We absolutely love our 2930RL. In my (somewhat selfish) opinion its one of Grand Design's best kept secrets. We really like the large bathroom and the north - south bed with large front window. We've also had excellent support from Grand Design. While we don't full time, we'll be doing our second extended stay in Florida next month and feel that we're lacking nothing. Tows great with our SRW truck (see sig) and we're able to stay withing GVWR.

Yup, as Marcy and roegs01 shared, we too have liked the 2930 as a great substitute for our 303. We all most bought a couple times used one a few years ago from a private party in Idaho but sold as we were finalizing numbers.

Still like it today as our most likely GDRV choice.......we shall see in the next several months.

Enjoy yours and welcome to the forum !

About that bedroom window, specifically the shade configuration. How do you keep the light from shining in on your head when in bed? I looked at a model today at an RV show; played with the shade and realized the shade has a rod so it is straight but the window is contoured which leaves a gap for sunlight and lamp light to shine down.

That is the #1 reason we did not buy one. I like a dark room at night. We also played with the shade and came up with the only way to block off light is to make something to cover the entire window area. Maybe like a head board of sorts. Also there is a void at the head of the mattress where pillows can fall into. We seriously considered it but between the window over the bed and combined number of lost storage cabinets that a larger tv and fridge took away (our older '14 303 has more storage and CCC)

We think the fridge size is overkill too. Fortunately, we are just in the shopping stage, and we are learning from this Blog what to look for.

Thats the beauty of RV's. All kinds of floorplans for all kinds of people. Keep shopping, looking, and asking questions - it's the best way.
