lowering spare tire
On our 380TH the mechanism to lower the spare tire is under the living room slide with no way to access it unless the slide is out. Somehow this does not seem right to me. The living room slide comes out after the kitchen slide so if we were to have a flat on the road, the slides would have to come out in order to access the spare tire. Hmmm.

Hi wgbike,
There should be a hole in the slide skirt for the crank handle to lower the spare with the slide in.
As it happens, the hole in our slide skirt does not line up with the spare lowering mechanism.
It is fairly easy to reach in behind the closed slide to crank down the spare with a 3/4" socket on a ratchet handle.

Rob,
I figured there should be a hole in the slide skirt but there is not, not even a hole that doesn't line up. The other issue is the piece of plastic that holds the electric wires folds right over the spare lowering mechanism when the slide is in. My plan is to use a ratchet and socket if I ever actually have to use the spare.
I appreciate your response and we still think this is the best TH we have owned.

Invest in a cordless 1/2 inch impact. You can use it to lower the spare as well as change the tire. For the slides, on the hydraulic pump in the front compartment, there are two small knobs. These small knobs control a slide. Close one and that slide will not open.
