Just upgraded to a 6000# axle from a 4400#...

@cuav8r I also have 2022 2970RL and will upgrade both axles. I am curious why you skipped 5200lb axles and went right to 6k. I wonder if the ride is more harsh ??? Did you need to change rims as well ? Did this increase height ? What springs (load rating) did you end up with ? Thanx.

We have an Imagine 2970RL, we replaced the 4400# axles with 6000# axles and Morryde suspension. Much better all around. Had really bad tire wear with the 4400's. Grand Design, in my opinion, should use heavier axles. That being said, we had an Imagine 2600RB that we took to Alaska, 15,000 mile trip, and had no issues with stock suspension.

Basically, it's what my shop recommended. Ride is not harsh. Morryde SRE4000 give lots of travel. Brakes are bigger and are self-adjusting.
Springs are 5 leaf 2900# I believe. Original wheels still fit this setup. Ride height appears the same.

Part # on receipt is ST6000NET. It's a Dexter Axle, 6000#, Straight, Nev R' Adjust.
They were $980 each.
