Sumo spring (Momentum 320G)

I am going to put the Sumo springs on my trailer, and wondering what anyone else has done with the aluminum strip that holds the coroplast on. Couple of thoughts are to just flatten the area of the strip where the spring contacts it, or remove the strip where the contact is made. I will put additional self tapping screws near the contact area to hold the strip.

Could you post a picture, as @Grandesigner said, there was no strip on my coach.

Here is a picture. I think I am going to flatten the strip where the Sumo will be, and put self tapping screws on either side.
