Prospective buyer...XLS 21BHE...
Aloha...
Wife and I relocated to mainland (from Hawai'i) and are looking to purchase our first RV - 21BHE. We drive a 22 Wagoneer 5.7 V8, tow/haul/sway-control package (not heavy-duty). My question, if you'd be so king to guide, is what are the realistic variances in my weight calc settings? My variances are all positive #s : Wagoneer (624#), RV (1275#), Hitch (108#, WDH not factored), & Combined (1504#).
I read all these stories of operators being close to max limits, yet I don't know what are acceptable limits. (Wary to ask a salesmen...)
Any guidance will be appreciated. And appreciate the welcome to this forum!

Do you have the GCWR for the tow vehicle as well, from the door tag? Is 13,700 the GCWR from the tag?

Get the numbers of the Jeep's door jam sticker and for the trailer and feed them in here:
https://changingears.com/weight-calc...ht-calculator/
Don't go by anything on-line for the Wagoneer or anything in the manual. Those are general numbers and are the true numbers for your vehicle based on trim, accessories, etc.

1st off those are dry weights for the XLS. Delivered will be around 4800-4850 lbs.
It's reall hard to add more than 1000 lbs into a small TT like the XLS21BHE.
IMO add 1,000 lbs for all your camping needs.
That puts you at 5800 lbs loaded.
12% of 5800 lbs is 696 lbs. Round it off to 700 lbs for tongue weight.
You could get buy with an Anderson WDH that only weighs around 50 lbs.
So add up the 700+375+50=1125.
That leaves you with 488 lbs to spare.
In the real world I would venture that 1/2 of that 488 lbs will be eaten up with unknowns.
IMHO I think you'll be fine but close on occasion. If you plan to travel with a full tank of fresh water that's another 365 lbs added. Depending on where the FW tank is located that could affect the TW.
Me personally after towing several TT's and a 5er I don't like being on the edge of specs. Not that it's unsafe or anything like that. It just doesn't make for a pleasant trip knowing you're maxed out all the time. It's also not really fun if you have to count how many Kleenex boxes you can take.

Thank you for your insight. Much appreciated. Real world operators tell me more than a sales rep. Having worked around airplanes for 30 years, weight/balance (safety) is foremost on my mind.

Keep in mind “safety” is so much more than weights and numbers
I am quite positive I personally could drive a setup “overweight” safer than many drive their “underweight” setup
Speed, attention, awareness etc etc are just as important if not more important
If you have never towed anything let alone a 6000 lb brick you may struggle
