Added an additional set of tail/brake lights to the back of my MO

I got an extra set of tai lights from GDRV so they were matching and thought it would look good to have 2 sets back there, not to mention when I am backing up in the dark the extra white LED’s really do a great job in helping me see behind me without having to turn on my patio awning light. Sharing for fun only . Didnt know if this should be in this forum, or the pics one…

Did you just figure out which wire was what and tap into it and run it up to you new lights?
How did you attach the light to the trailer?

I purchased the identical lights from GDRV. I then solder spliced the wires from the factory wiring to light up the new lights, and used the factory mounting which was self tapping screws. I had to drill holes as well for all the lights. The soldering was 2 fold for me, one it was strong, and 2 I could seal it when done with water proof shrinking connectors. Mine is not coming apart

I should also say, I added extra orange and red marker lights down the side also. So I have 3 red marker lights all under the garage portion of the rig, and added more orange up near the front, all evenly spaced. Looks so much better with the extra lights. I can get marker light pics if people want them. Again I bought those from GDRV so they would all "match".

Having been an Electrician for well over 40 years, I heartily approve of your solder and heat shrink method....I did the same thing when I added my extra lights on the rear a couple of years ago. Nice job and I like the way they match OEM.

Thanks! The other nice thing that mattered to me, was I put the OEM rear lights on so the white LEDs are close together, so that when I am in reverse at night, I have double the illumination which helps bigtime. So I purposely oriented them that way to look great, but also be more functional. With the rig being 44 feet long, some good lighting helps bigtime.

Yeah, the soldering for me was to keep them from possibly coming apart and then I wanted them sealed and safe. It obviously took longer, but I wont ever worry about those connections. The other thing I did was then put the wiring for the marker lights into new split loom and tied it up with ZIP ties so it is secure, but protected (new marker light wiring).
