    Right set up?

Hey guys I’m new to the forum and RV ownership, just bought a 2019 F150 King Ranch with upgraded tow package. We also purchased a new 2023 Grand Design 2500RL with a Blue Ox Sway Pro included. Is this sufficient for a good match between the two?
Truck has the V6 3.5 Ecoboost twin Turbo 375hp.

First off, welcome to the forum @Widowmaker, glad to have you in the GD family. The first place you're going to want to look is at the weights listed on the door tag of your truck. They'll tell you what your truck is capable of handling. Then you have to deduct what you'll be carrying in the truck (yourself, passengers, cargo, hitch) and you'll be left with an estimate of the hitch weight you can handle. The 2500RL has a listed hitch weight of 581 pounds, but in practice, it is probably quite a bit more. Some on this forum have suggested a rule of thumb is 10-12% of your trailer's GVWR, in this case, 7,850 lbs. So you can do the math, find the actual weight your truck can handle from the sticker, and apply your weight estimates. That will give you an idea if you are in weight heaven (caution, the weight police may pull you over on this forum, they all have your best interest at heart).

Since you already bought does it matter now?

With a loaded king ranch quite likely you are over payload if you load the trailer properly but it won’t matter now

That is pulling capacity which is meaningless. Carrying is the issue

Well you're stuck with what you have for better or worse.
I would check the CCC of the truck which is on a sticker inside the door jamb. Regardless of how high or how low it is it's your max for payload. You're going to have to deal with the CCC in that you will have to be very diligent on how and what you load into the truck.
You could easily be around 7000 lbs loaded and have 750-800 lbs for tongue weight. Maybe more. If you load lightly you should be fine.
Not a big fan of the BO WDH. BTDT and I feel it under performs. But it is what it is.
At this point it's about getting the truck and TT setup right and towing with it.

tough crowd here. I am going to guess you have ~1500 lbs of payload for that truck (your door sticker will have the exact number). Assuming you load that trailer with gear to the limit (7850 lbs GVWR) you would have a tongue weight of ~860 lbs (11% of 7850). The blu ox say pro weighs about 80 lbs so you are looking at 940lbs worst case for a loaded hitch weight. That would leave you with ~560lbs for people and cargo in the truck. You should be ok as long as you don't put too much cargo in truck. I had a similar setup to this (31.5 ft trailer with a 7600 lbs GVWR towing with a Ram 1500 and blue ox sway pro) and it did ok unless it was windy. You will be near or right at the limit.

My door sticker shows 1700 lbs of payload with GVWR of 7000 lbs.
    trailer shows GVW of 7850
And total length of trailer is 28’-10”

And this isn’t for solid road travels, just occasional vacationing (maybe 4 trips a year), until retirement, then will move into something bigger.

A good middle of the road estimate for your setup would be to calculate approx. 12 to 13% of the loaded trailer weight, as tongue weight.....so around 1000 lbs if the trailer is loaded up to GVWR of 7850. Obviously, if the trailer is NOT loaded all the way up to the GVWR, your tongue weight will/should be less than that.....load placement and total load is something important to condsider. I know from experience that the B.O. Sway Pro is a fairly heavy WD hitch and 80 lbs is probably a pretty close guess. That puts you are somewhere around a little less than 1100 lbs so far. That will leave you with roughly 600 lbs for everything else, anything and everything else that goes in/on the truck....stuff in the bed of the truck, passengers, pets, firewood, etc....anything and everything.

In a case like this, ^^^ obviously load placement is key to your total amount of tongue weight being put down on the truck, so you may want to experiment with that a bit and then do some scale weight readings. The second thing is, the above is calculating the trailer being loaded to full GVWR....and you may never load it up that much, or you may have it loaded up like that a lot....so just something to keep in mind.

Also, about the truck itself....if it has P metric tires on it, get rid of them as soon as you can and get an LT type of tire.....much better on stability for pulling heavy loads. Also make sure that the Sway Pro is properly adjusted....they work well when they are, and they make you want to tear your hair out when they are not.

I think your situation is doable with the truck and trailer, but it certainly means that correct loading placement of stuff in the trailer and the amount of stuff is important. Your trailer length is about as long as most recommend for 1/2 ton trucks, so be aware that you don't get into the the "tail wagging the dog" situation, and keep adjusting the Sway Pro until you hit the sweet spot...
