Heat Pads Worthwhile?
Curious if those that have heat pads on the water tanks think it is a worthwhile installation on a trailer that does not have them? I have been in temps down to 18F and as long as the furnace is running have not had frozen pipes or tanks. I had been thinking about installing heat pads but now I see the amount of coverage they provide (see "Underbelly" thread) I wonder if it would be worthwhile?

Being good to 18*, you must be doing something right! The only thing that comes to mind is if it were that cold with a wind you might get in trouble, but other stuff would likely start freezing before the tanks. Happy Camping!

That's a good point. We have had a frozen water line when we leave MN for FL in winter and drive the first day without the furnace on. We stay in MO and have to wait 20 minutes or so for the line to thaw out so we have fresh water from the tank. You're right though, the lines freeze before the tanks so as long as the furnace is on we're likely not going to have an issue with the tank and if it gets too cold for those, we've probably got bigger problems with the lines by then.
