Well, I don't know about the OP, but I'm confused.

It would be much easier if were simply called a battery switch.
Anyway…with the shore power connected, leave the switch set so the battery is connected to the RV. This will allow the battery to stay charged. When connected to shore power, generator, with solar panels, or when towing there is no need to disconnect the battery.
This reminds me of the fuel shut off in the Yamaha snowmobiles. When it was “on” it was doing it’s job which is to stop the flow of fuel.2022 Reflection150 226RK

A better name would likely be Battery Connect Switch. "ON"=Connect, "OFF"=Disconnect. But it's too late since the term Battery Disconnect Switch is in the RV'er lexicon.

Hello @Hankvander, welcome to the forum. As you've already seen, this is a place where there can be some pretty lively discussions.
As others have pointed out, it's best to have power flowing from your converter to your batteries when you are connected to shore power. That would happen when the battery disconnect switch is engaged and you can't take the key out. You may want to consider a true battery disconnect near the battery where all power to the battery is disconnected. With the switch in most GD coaches, the battery disconnect still allows some components such as smoke and CO detectors to draw on the battery. Over time those could draw down your battery unless you physically remove the cables or have a true disconnect switch in place.
Hope you enjoy your 2600 RB, that's a popular floor plan. Let us know if we can help.Stephen and Judy

Welcome to the group. I'll just add (maybe also add to the confusion) that even though the battery disconnect is on (line to the battery is cut) there will still be some parasitic draws on the battery. Not everything actually gets cut.
